Challenging GATS – responses

I agree with Barry Coates' argument that Civil Society is playing a major part in generating resistance to and opposition to the current direction of Globalisation. But would go further and suggest that it is this Global Civil Society, of which the World Development Movement is an integral part, must be THE major player in altering this course.

Globalisation in itself is not a bad thing - without a global policy, how are we to save the planet - it is neo-liberal economic globalisation that is the problem. There must be continued resisistance to the power of the Multinationals (backed up by the power of the Iron Troika of the IMF, WTO and the World Bank). Globalisation is Good. Neo-liberal Economic Globalisation is Bad.
